About AANUKO — A Groundbreaking Barbershop Concept in Los Angeles, California

AANUKO is a barbershop in Los Angeles with two locations: Culver City on Washington Blvd, and West Adams on Jefferson Blvd. A sanctuary for connection and growth, where barbers and clients unite through shared creativity. A house built on friendship and the simple power of a confidence-boosting experience.

Why Was AANUKO Created?

AANUKO is the unexpected collaboration between two industry titans: BluMaan, built on community and content, and Hanz De Fuko, rooted in product and craft. Though neither had run a barbershop before, they shared a decade of obsession with one thing: the gap between what clients need and what they actually get.

There’s a version of yourself you don’t know is possible until a great barber shows it to you. That shift in confidence is permanent. It doesn’t wear off when you leave the chair. And once you know what your hair can actually look like, and how to maintain it, something shifts. Both companies grew from that idea long before AANUKO existed. Founded in Culver City in 2022, AANUKO was built not by asking what a shop should look like, but by obsessing over what the client truly cares about.

What Does an AANUKO Location Look Like?

AANUKO’s locations are more than barbershops. They are spatial art installations housed within historical landmarks, each meticulously designed to offer a multi-sensory luxury experience that blends historical prestige with high-concept modernism. The interiors prioritize atmosphere over utility, using unique, artistic materials that interact with light and shadow to create a romantic, deep warmth that blankets the entire space. By choosing landmark buildings, AANUKO weaves the grooming experience into the local architectural narrative, making every visit feel like a curated event.

Each space is defined by high ceilings and a mix of light wood, creams, and deep browns, accented by the raw texture of exposed brick. The walls combine classic wainscoting with bold, maximalist Gucci wallpaper for a layered, high-fashion aesthetic. Professionals work from Takara Belmont chairs, the gold standard in salon comfort and design, set against polished Italian floor tiles. Every piece of furniture is a custom installation, ensuring the environment feels less like a shop and more like a curated art exhibition.

What Makes an AANUKO Haircut Different?

At AANUKO, every detail, from the architecture to the schedule, is guided by a single question: What truly matters to the client?

Every seat in the chair begins with a plan. Your hair, your routine, and what actually works for you — that’s where the magic happens. A barber is more than just a stylist; they’re the authority who knows which questions to ask before the first clip. We take the guesswork out of your visit so you can stop wondering if they “get it” and start relaxing.

Services run 60 to 75 minutes — intentionally longer than the industry norm. That time isn’t padding. It’s what allows the work to be done properly: the cut executed with care, a shampoo and hot towel at the bowl, a proper style finished the way it’s meant to be seen. Our barbers are trained in both scissors and clippers, which means you never have to choose between a great fade and great texture on top. Short, medium, long. Straight, wavy, curly. Fades, scissor cuts, color, transformation. Nothing is outside the scope.

The style at the end of a service isn’t cosmetic. It’s the proof of the work — the best possible version of what was just built. If a client leaves without seeing their hair fully styled, they’re seeing their haircut half done. We don’t do that.

Before you leave, your barber walks you through exactly how to maintain what was just created. Which products, which technique, what works for your specific hair. The goal isn’t for your hair to look good today. It’s for it to look this good every day — and for you to know how to get there without coming back to ask.

That’s not a service. That’s a relationship. And it’s the reason clients come back.
